Research Project

Soil management for irrigated continuous corn

Investigators: Gurbir Singh, Gurpreet Kaur, Himmy Lo

Funding Agency: NCAAR

Project Summary
Continuous corn is a cropping system that requires relatively high nitrogen fertilizer input and generates relatively large amounts of above ground residue. These characteristics create unique challenges and opportunities for soil management with sprinkler irrigation. This project explores how nitrogen placement and tillage intensity affect crop yield, soil properties, and farm profitability under sprinkler irrigated continuous corn in a medium-textured soil.
